I want to capture the image of a healthy lake from
Wisconsin. It was important for me to connect the
use of the rain barrel to healthy lakes and the life
within that lake.

Rain Barrel Art Auction

Twenty area artist and artist groups, including students from Badger Rock Middle School, have painted 55-gallon plastic containers, donated by Pepsi, have been converted to rain barrels. The painted barrels are being clear-coated by MAACO and will be displayed by are business sponsors for this event the first two weeks of April. Then they will be auctioned off at the 2013 BRMS Earth Day Festival.

Proceeds of the Rain Barrel Bash are used to support Badger Rock’s unique Field Biology curriculum. This initiative engages every student in a year long, dynamic environmental experience.   Your commitment will ensure that every child broadens and deepens their knowledge and understandings of a sustainable lifestyle and builds their own resilience as a learner.

All barrels were collaboratively painted by our RAW Madison Artists and RAW Madison Team.

Barrel 1) Deep Sea Escape

The octopus represents Madison and its many attributes: dance, photography, art, music, education, cows, cheese, agriculture, local food, community, green transportation, and sports.

I wanted to make my rain barrel stand out as an art piece, yet blend into nature. It is supposed to be simple while also appearing complex. It is my take on classic wooden barrel kegs. I chose to paint some fun and interesting creatures that benefit from the use of rain barrels, but hopefully will not be living in yours. It is aptly titled "lines"
I hope you enjoy it.

I am a co-host for Fish in the Morning on 93.1 Jamz and thought it would be cool to have a radio Rain Barrel from a local Madison radio station.  This Rain Barrel is our Jamz logo along with the FIsh in the Morning logo, make sure you listen to our show every morning and have a Happy Earth Day!

The Madison Children's Museum painted these rain barrels as part of a couple workshops that they did with the kids.

The front of the rain barrel is based on an Aztec large basalt head sculpture.
