Description of Rain Barrel artwork (75 words or less):

​ 

​The front of the rain barrel is based on an Aztec large basalt head sculpture. The idea is to have the spigot on the bottom of the barrel aligned with the mouth of the head. I began forming the concept of the barrel by looking at rain/water/environmental ancient deities. Based on that search and seeing a photo of the Aztec head sculpture in an art history book I chose to paint the front of the barrel as it is. The front of the barrel is not based on any specific figure. The back of the barrel is made up of a variety of images based on themes of society, education, and environment.​
